Milton High School Band Program

elcome to the web home of the award-winning Milton High School Band. Each school year gives us the opportunity to carry on the outstanding tradition of excellence that is the trademark of the Milton Band. This school year will be extra special to us since this will be our final year at our current facility. Since Milton High School first offered band as a part of the curriculum in 1949, the band has been an integral part of the lives of the students at Milton. We are proud to carry on the rich, long-standing traditions that are the Milton Band's foundation. The Milton Band provides musical activities that encompass a wide range and allows every member an opportunity to reach their highest possible level of excellence, and to carry on the program's goal 'the pursuit of excellence'.

The fall season emphasizes the excellence of our outstanding Milton High School Marching Band. Generally, performances will include home and away football games, as well as several marching competitions. The band has also represented Milton High School, the city of Alpharetta, the state of Georgia and the United States of America in the 2001 New Year's Day Parade in London, England, in performances at Carnegie Hall in New York City and in the Fiesta Bowl Parade and Festival in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Milton Band program features four concert organizations that have developed into outstanding musical ensembles through participation in concerts and festivals. The Concert Band, Freshman Honor Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will present several public performances as well as participate in the Georgia Music Educators' Association Concert Band evaluation festivals. Our concert groups have also performed for national and regional concert band festivals including the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival and the national convention of the Music Educators' National Conference. Band have distinguished themselves as gifted and talented musicians from their selection to the Georgia Music Educators' Association All State Band, the Governor's Honors Program, the Fulton County Honor Band, Solo and Ensemble Festivals and other university-sponsored Honor Band groups.

Our Wind Ensemble has also performed as a selected ensemble at the Georgia Music Educators' Association Conference, and the National Adjudicators Invitational Concert Festival. The ensemble has also given invitational performances at the University of Georgia High School Music Festival (JanFest), the University of South Carolina Conductor's Conference, the University of Southern Mississippi's All South Honor Band and the Southeastern United States Concert Band Clinic at Troy University.

In addition to the ensemble successes, the individual members of the Milton Band have distinguished themselves as gifted and talented musicians from their selection to the Georgia Music Educators' Association All State Band, the Governor's Honors Program, the Fulton County Honor Band, Solo and Ensemble Festivals and other university-sponsored Honor Band groups.

Hard-working students, dedicated staff members, involved and active parents, and a supportive administration and community all combine to make it possible for the Milton High School Band program to offer an outstanding array of musical opportunities. Our students are expected to set and reach high goals for themselves and their program. The rewards of meeting those expectations are immeasurable in the development of our students as well-rounded human beings. Members of the Milton Band will develop musically, emotionally, mentally, socially and physically during their time in the band program at Milton High School as we build toward 60 years of 'the pursuit of excellence' in music education.
